Below are some of the most popular questions that we're asked. If you have a question that isn't in the list below please contact us.
Q: What time does the Benefit Dinner start and what is the attire?
A: The location is Lakeside Park. We are hosting the pig and turkey roast in a luxury sided tent. Cocktail hour begins at 6:00 pm. Recommended attire is casual - come as you are!, Some will be semi-formal,but fisherman may also come from tournament and be in casual attire.
Q: What is there to do if I don't fish?
A: The tournament is only 1 of 3 events. There will be a Shoreline Family Fun day from 2pm - 6pm at Lakeside Park with fishing clinics, educational booths, games, other entertainment and food/beverages for the whole family.
There is also a gourmet "surf and turf" benefit dinner with silent auction being held at the Lake Elmo Event Center beginning at 6pm.

Q: Can I pre-fish the area Friday?
A: Yes, you may pre-fish. The landing at Beach House Marina neighboring directly north of Lakeside Park is available for $10 per boat. We or they are not responsible for boats left overnight.
Q: Can I hire my own Professional Guide?
A: Yes, However, if you want to hire a pro and their rig on your own... feel free. Note: only two people per team can fish. If the guide is a third in the boat they cannot wet the line! Further, we recommend you double check on necessary professional guide licensing required for this boundary waterway to ensure certification. Check our sponsor page on this website for recommended guides that know the river and are licensed and certified.
Q: Where do I launch by boat? And when? Is there a charge?
A: You can launch your boat anywhere on the river. The Beach House Marina next door to Lakeside Park is donating assistance and free use of the landing. You can launch your boat anytime, but there won't be much light until 6:30am. We will also have free parking for vehicles and trailers on Saturday.
Q: Does it cost extra to fish for more than one species?
A: Yes. One Division or species category is included in the entry fee. Additional divisions are available per team for and extra $50 each. By 7:00am the morning of September 10th, each team must choose which of the four species they will fish. We will post the number of team entrants within each division the morning of the tournament at the breakfast/rules meeting.
Q: I can't make the starting of tournament at 7:00 am can I still fish?
A: Yes. You may start anytime after 7:00 am. You may fish any time between 7:00 am and 3:00 pm, but you must check in with the judges at Lakeside Park.
Q: Can I fish with my kids or spouse? Can there be more than 2 people in a boat?
A: Yes, but only two people in the boat can fish. Kids under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Young kids or non fisherman can be in the boat , but can't fish.
Q: Does the shoreline event cost money?
A: There is no charge to enter. Food concessions are reasonably priced. Tickets are required for some games and rides.
Q: Can I weigh in early?
A: Yes, you may bring in your fish any time after 10 a.m.. These fish will then be released, and you may return to the water and try to beat your weight.
Q: What areas on the river can contestants fish?
A: Northern Boundary: the Lift bridge (hwy -64) in Stillwater.
Southern Boundary: Afton Marina
See the printable pdf river map in the tournament & rules section of this site for detail. There is roughly 5 miles of river between these boundaries, there should be plenty of fish there! good luck.
Q: Do I have to weigh in early?
A: No: You may continue fishing and upgrading throughout the day, per Minnesota law.
Q: Will I have trouble parking my trailer?
A: No. We have special designated parking and volunteers will be available to shuttle any items on golf carts to your boat or vehicle. We will also assist you in unloading and loading boat.
Q: Can my kids fish?
A: Yes, all ages are encouraged to participate. If the two youngsters are under age 16, a non-fishing adult must also be present. The adult must also sign the registration form.
Q: Do I need a fishing license?
A: Everyone over the age of 16 is required to have a fishing license.

Q: Where is the money going?
A: All team registration fees ($150/boat)will go toward cash and merchandise prizes. $100 of the $250 entry fee is a tax deductible donation to the Terrance D. and Jacqueline J. Capistrant Parkinsons Foundation FBO the Capistrant Center for Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders. All individual fishing team sponsor funds raised via fishing teams, Shoreline Festival games, silent auction proceeds are tax deductible and will directly benefit the Capistrant Center for Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders at Bethesda Hospital. Net tournament proceeds will support The Capistrant Center’s work to provide medical evaluations, treatment, education, support and resources for those with Parkinson's disease and movement disorders.
Q: What are the prizes and how do I collect them when I win?
A: Prizes in each of the 4 divisions will consist of:
- 1st $1000,
- 2nd $600,
- 3rd $250
4th and 5th place will have the opportunity for merchandise prizes depending on sponsor donations.
1st through 5th place trophies in each division (weigh those small ones just in case!)
- Merchandise donations will hopefully fill the prize tent too!
Every winner must be present at the awards ceremony (4 pm) to collect their prizes.
Q: Can I enter more than one division for prizes and trophies? Could I win more than one division?
A: Yes. But each fish weighed can only count in one division. In addition there are separate prizes for heaviest fish of the tournament and top sponsor fundraising team.
