Tournament & Rules
Participants and Eligibility
This is a two person fishing team tournament. Non-fishing, Tournament approved, non-fishing volunteer guides are allowed.
- $250 Per Team = $150 Entry fee, plus a minimum of $100 donation (tax deductible) either self funded or through sponsorship)
- Price includes:
- 1 Division entry fee - Additional Divisions are $50ea per team
- 2ea Tournament Hats,
- 2ea Breakfast Buffet,
- 2ea Benefit Dinner tickets,
**Please Note***
- At the time of registration each team must identify the species division they intend to fish. Teams may only weigh fish in divisions they have registered in before the start of the tournament.
- Teams can purchase a second division tag for $50.00. This will allow a team to weigh fish in divisions beyond the primary registered species division.
- Example: Team X registers in the Walleye division as their primary entry at $150.00. The team also registers in the Panfish divison for $50.00. This allows Team X to compete and weigh-in fish in both categories.
- Fishing teams can register for a maximum of two species categories.
- Sponsorship funds for teams may be self funded or through donation. Donations may come from friends, family, co-workers, employers, businesses, churches or others.
- Each team must complete, sign and submit an official entry form, along with minimum $250 tournament. Choose an additional species division for $50 per team.
- **Entry Confirmation will be sent along with official tournament rules and fundraising packet.
- Participants can pay with check made out to Fishin’ for Parkinson’s or by credit card via telephone or our website.
- Sponsorship forms must be submitted by September 9th 2011. Any sponsorship or donation above $150 is tax deductible.
- The sponsorship goal per team is $350 - there is no maximum. The tournament fee includes 2 tickets to the awards/benefit dinner .
- When a team raises sponsorship donations (beyond their $250 entry) they will receive:
1 grand prize raffle ticket for every $50 raised above and beyond tournament fee ($250) or
1 grand prize raffle ticket ($650 prize value)
And
The Team who raises the most sponsorship donations will win two custom rods/reels and a free 1 day professional guided fishing trip on the St. Croix.
- Participants 16 and over must possess a valid fishing license.
- Anglers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
- No culling or live well sorting is allowed.
- Two anglers allowed per boat.
- All teams must have a team representative in attendance at the rules meeting breakfast and registration at 6am on Saturday September 10th, 2011 at Lakeside Park beach house.
Scoring
Fishing Divisions:
Muskie Division
- Maximum of 20 teams.
- Live catch, photo, release tournament.
- Scoring will be based on total inches of all fish Muskies caught per team.
- Muskies must be 34 inches or greater to qualify.
- A digital photo of the fish must be captured while the fish is on the measuring device.
- The entire length of the fish must be visible on the measuring device.
- The tournament provided hat must be present in the digital photo. Hats will be provided the morning of the tournament.
- Photos will be reviewed and authorized by tournament officials prior to awards ceremony.
- Cash prize awarded to top three teams of combined total inches over 34 inches, and largest Muskie.
- Sponsor donated prizes will be awarded to teams beyond the top three.
PAYOUT Muskie (Based on 20 teams)
- First: $1,000.00
- Second: $600.00
- Third: $250.00
Walleye/Bass Division
- Each team may weigh-in 6 total fish. A maximum of 3 Bass and 3 Walleyes/Sauger. The Heaviest combined bag weight determines winners.
- Walleye, Sauger, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, and White/Striped Bass are eligible to be combined for total weight.
- Minimum length for Walleye is 15 inches
- Minimum length for Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass is 14 inches.
- Cash Prize will be determined by the number of registered teams in the Walleye/Bass Division.
- Cash prize awarded to top three teams.
- Sponsor donated prizes will be awarded to teams beyond the top three.
PAYOUT Walleye/Bass
- First: $1,000.00
- Second: $600.00
- Third: $250.00
Panfish Division
- Teams of two anglers per boat.
- Each team may weigh-in 10 total fish, in any combination. Heaviest bag weight determines
- winners.
- Crappie, Sunfish, Perch, and Rock Bass are eligible to be combined for total weight.
- Cash Prize will be determined by the number of registered teams in the Panfish Division.
- Cash prize awarded to top three teams.
- Sponsor donated prizes will be awarded to teams beyond the top three.
PAYOUT Panfish
- First: $1,000.00
- Second: $600.00
- Third: $250.00
Roughfish (Ugly) Division
- Each team may weigh-in 5 total fish. Heaviest bag weight determines winners.
- All roughfish and ugly fish are eligible to be combined for total weight. Any fish not in season must be photographed and released. Fish must be alive at weigh in or photographed and released
- immediately.
- Roughfish/Ugly fish may include: Carp, Catfish, Sucker, Dogfish, Eel Pout, Bull Head, Gar, Whitefish, Sturgeon, Gar…
- Cash Prize will be determined by the number of registered teams in the Ugly Division.
- Cash prize awarded to top three teams.
- Sponsor donated prizes will be awarded to teams beyond the top three.
PAYOUT Roughfish
- First: $1,000.00
- Second: $600.00
- Third: $250.00
Tournament Format
- LIVE RELEASE TOURNAMENT.
- Teams of two anglers per boat.
- Check-in, rules overview, and breakfast will begin at 6:00 AM.
- Fishing hours will be from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM
- Tournament waters: Stretch of river between the Stillwater lift bridge (northern boundary), south to Afton Marina (southern boundary).
- The tournament will include four species divisions: Walleye/Bass, Panfish, Muskie, and Roughfish (Ugly).
- Artificial and live bait allowed.
- Teams must designate their intended species division upon registration.
- Teams can only weigh fish in species divisions which they have registered for before tournament starting time.
- All fish weighed must be alive.
- Tournament weigh-in will take place on the awards stage at Lakeside Park. All teams must check in at Lakeside Park by 3:00 PM.
- Any team checking in after 3:00 PM will sacrifice their largest fish; after 3:15 PM teams will be disqualified.
- The top three teams in each division will be awarded cash prizes.
- In addition to cash prizes, 4th and 5th place will receive sponsor donated merchandise.
- All prizes and awards will be provided during the weigh-in awards ceremony immediately following the fishing tournament.
- All fishing teams are subject to rules and regulations outlined by the MN/WI DNR.
- Each tournament angler must have a valid fishing license for the state of MN or WI.
Sponsorship Materials
A sponsor packet will be provided to each participant. Sponsor Packets include:
- A special brochure describing the mission and services provided to patients at CCPMD (Capistrant Center for Parkinson's & Movement Disorders)
- Directions & Map of area, parking and landing options for day of the event.
- Team sponsor forms, email and electronic solicitation instructions.
- Your personal tournament helper's contact information.
Funds are being raised by the Terrance D. and Jacqueline J. Capistrant Parkinsons Foundation committee on behalf of the St. Croix Valley Foundation.
The amount of contribution that is deductible for federal income tax purposes is limited to the excess of money (and the value of property other than money) contributed by the donor over the fair market value of goods and services provided by the organization.
